Employees of Pacific West Mechanical are expected to show up to their regularly scheduled shifts, and communicate with your immediate supervisor/manager if you are going to be significantly delayed. If you are unable to attend work you are to follow the procedure(s) below to ensure we can plan appropriately for your absence.

Types of Leaves

• Sick leave: You are too sick to come into work and are taking sick days and using sick time to recover. As per Employment Standards all employees are entitled to 5 paid sick days each calendar year (after employed for 90 days). Once those days are used, remaining sick time is unpaid.
• Extended sick leave/Compassionate care leave/Parental leave: If you are needing to go on an extended leave you are entitled to apply for Employment Insurance to potentially receive pay through EI during your leave. • Vacation: Vacation leave is specific time set aside for time away from work and not to be used to cover sick time or other time away from work.
